Put Your Name On It

My ex and I had a very mature, conscious uncoupling. We kept in touch for years after we broke up, until he moved out of the country last week. Before his departure, though, he told me to expect something for Valentines day in the mail – romantic, right?

I went about my business as usual, and forgot about the surprise until it arrived at my doorstep. When I opened it, I was so excited to see a silver necklace in a luscious velvet bag from Monogram Online. I was so impressed with the quality and reviews, I may consider ordering another name plate.

Now, I’ve been wanting a chain like this for quite some time, but how did he know that… The power of thoughts are REAL, so think positive, people!

I seriously cannot ever remember telling him that I wanted this, or anything at all, for Valentines Day! That’s why this dude is awesome – he loves to surprise me, and has amazing taste. The way he spoils me, you would never believe we’ve been broken up for almost 3 years! I guess this was his was of saying “we had a good run” or is he trying to say “don’t give up my loving while I am away…”

Either way, I like the mutual respect and love for each other that we share. We are far from ever considering getting back together, but I can rely on him for just about anything – now, that’s real love.

“Friends help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself – and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That’s what real love amounts to – letting a person be what he really is.” – Jim Morrison

    1. Yeah – I honestly do not know when the next time I will ever see him will be, so I’ll always have this chain to remember him by! It’s so nice and rare to find a man who can be generous without expecting anything in return.

  2. I love this post. It came at just the right time for me, as I’ve been hoping for something for quite some time as well. But now I think it’s time to back off a bit and just enjoy what I currently have. There is a fine line between being patient and making sure you stand up for what you think you need at the time or what you think is “right.”

This friendship quote and your post have reminded me that labels are just that – things that help society put people into boxes; they have no bearing on what truly exists between two people.
You are beautiful and so are your words of wisdom! Sending you loving thoughts this Valentine’s Day, Miss J!

    1. There is a certain freedom that comes from acceptance. I now find happiness and peace in letting life unfold and relinquishing control to the universe. Until I find love again, I am learning to walk comfortably in my own shoes. There is so much beauty in bonding with family and friends, and even with other bloggers like yourself. Thanks for stopping by, and happy Valentine’s Day!

  3. That is so beautiful! I truly believe that if there was love present, it doesn’t leave it just changes. Plus I love a nameplate or initial. I recently lost mine and this is a great reminder to make a loving gesture to myself too and replace it asap. ❤

    1. Yeah – I think you get a discount if you like Monogram Online on FB! Thanks for commenting – it’s kinda of thrilling not knowing if we’ll ever end up getting back together, but loving each other enough to just let each other go. We still talk, and every time I see Uganda pop up in my stats, I cannot help but to smile.
