If your mother is anything like mine, she reads your outfits like the Fashion Police. And, she won’t hesitate to let you know if the cleavage to leg ratio is tasteful or if you look fat or skanky in an outfit.

Sometimes, these reads are hard to swallow, but I truly appreciate the honesty.

So I knew I had a winner when my mother saw me in this dress from Yona New York  and exclaimed, “You look so beautiful!” A garment my mother and I can agree on makes my heart soar – especially with it being so close to Mother’s Day.

My mom has this weird obsession with anything floral. She even asks me to “take more pictures in front of flowers.” Oh, God – her creative direction makes me laugh so hard. I don’t mind flowers in the background, but I think it’s gotta be done right… I’m just saying.

So to compromise, I sometimes pick something floral to wear when we have outings or around this time.

This kimono dress is something my mother and I can agree on. I just love how this dress skims my curves. And, the print is just so perfect for spring. I see myself wearing this to weddings and brunch all summer long.

The thing that I like the most about this dress is that I feel like it was designed with a curvy woman in mind. The draping and prints are flattering. I feel both feminine and conservative, yet sexy. I could wear this to church or on a date.
