I know, first hand, how hard it is to find a flattering plus size formal dress in a traditional bridal shop. In fact, about this time last year, I found myself super excited to be a bridesmaid in my friends wedding but horrified when the size 26 dress I ordered didn’t fit.

Normally, I would just size up but I was in the largest size that they carried. So was I supposed to tell my friend I couldn’t be in her wedding because I was… too fat?

Long story short: I ended up spending an additional $200 to get a corset back in my dress, doubling the price, and taking it up a few sizes so I could stuff myself in that bad boy. This was such a scary process.

So many thoughts ran through my mind: Would the alterations make this dress fit? Would I stand out from the other girls?

Thankfully, everything worked out – even though it took 15 minutes or so to lace up the corset, old school style, to get in the dress. And, let’s not even talk about what it took to get out of the dress. Sigh.

The coolest thing about Sydney’s Closet is that the owner had similar issues when searching for a decent plus size dress for her daughter.  And she had the same problem again when it was time for her daughter to get married. This is how the company got started.

I was obsessed with this Infatuation Evening Dress.  It slipped on with ease, felt so soft on my skin and the detailing was just to die for. I felt like Miss America.

This dress is a dream.

I just want to live out all my deferred plus size prom dreams in this gown. (Yes, I’ve never been to prom, but that’s a different story.)

The thick layering of the soft material on the bottom of the dress and the delicate, beaded top of the dress were just magical. So flattering, feminine and elegant to boot.
