I want everyone to wear what they want and mix it in their own way. That, to me, is what is modern.”
― Karl Lagerfeld
I develop a strategic plan when I shop. I go to particular places for specific things. Because of my size, I do not have the luxury of walking into a store and selecting things off of the rack.
So, for bras and hosiery: I’ll go to JustMySize or Lane Bryant. For shirts: I’ll need to buy from a brand that runs big, or only choose particular styles of shirts. Pants are kind of easy, but I have to be careful because I am tall.
It amazes me that I cannot find clothing that is true to size. This is frustrating, and luckily with so many brands being available, it’s getting better – yet, at times, I still feel left out.
Let’s talk about what I’m wearing, though…
So, I am on a bit of a spending freeze right now. Yet, still, I manage to pick up a few things here and there. My amount of self-control is so disappointing, but hey: A fashionista is going to shop, dammit!
While I am “not shopping,” I’ve been editing my wardrobe down to staples and a few statement pieces. I’ve also been remixing things in my existing wardrobe to create new looks, and this is one of them.
The tights are my favorite part of this look. It’s so hard to find nice statement-hosiery in my size, so I was thrilled to finally find these (and that they actually fit properly).
The skirt kind of went with the feminine, romantic feel of the tights… The shirt, though: I loved the style, even though the print of the mesh kind of clashed. I liked it – it created an interesting, modern appeal.
Let’s not forget about the trendy yet classic coat, which was a complete steal!
Ooooh I live the tights!! Ah, I want a pair like that now!
And that’s right, a girls got to shop dammit!!
Love the look, great remix!
