I had the honor of attending the Aesthetics of Breast Cancer Fashion Show, presented by  SMGA Media and Jermell Keys and hosted by Chantelle-Nickson Clark.

This event was held at the beautiful Third Degree Glass Factory earlier this October, which if you didn’t know if Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The event was inspired by Jermell’s grandmother, a breast cancer survivor, who beat Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) – an amazing but possible feat.

The purpose of the night was to uplift and inspire those who have been impacted by the disease, giving them a night of glamour and joy. It was truly a magical experience, featuring designs from Reuben Reuel, Raven Pulliam, Amanda Casarez, Ameli Baser, and Annie Linzie.

Personally, this story touches me because both my mother and father have beat cancer, and a few of my grandparents, too. It wasn’t breast cancer, but cancer nonetheless.

It warms my heart to see a cause that contributes to the self esteem and strength of people facing hard times. Being sick can take a toll on your finances and self care. Sometimes, those going through it need support so they can feel like themselves again.

If you’re looking to give back, you can always donate. But, please keep in mind that there are many ways to contribute your gifts and talents to the cause. So whether you’re a photographer, makeup artist, social media guru or would like to vend, you can find a way to get involved with ABC Fashion Shows.
